Female Portrait Photographer Los Angeles

Working with a Female Portrait Photographer in Los Angeles

Finding the right portrait photographer is about more than style. It's about finding someone you feel comfortable collaborating with.

As a female portrait photographer, I've found that many clients appreciate the opportunity to work with someone who takes the time to understand their goals, their visual aesthetic, and how they want to be perceived. Every session begins with that conversation.

Whether I'm photographing an entrepreneur, an executive, an artist, or a family, my approach is the same. Together, we'll create thoughtful, authentic portraits that reflect who you are and the work you've built.

More Than a Portrait

A portrait can show people what you look like.

The strongest portraits give people a sense of who you are.

That's what I'm thinking about every time I photograph someone.

Before we make a single image, we'll identify your goals, your visual aesthetic, and how you want to be perceived. Those conversations shape every creative decision that follows—from location and wardrobe to light and composition.

My background in editorial photography has taught me that every photograph should have intention. My goal isn't simply to create a beautiful portrait, but one that feels authentic and reflects who you are.

Whether you're an entrepreneur, an artist, an executive, or simply ready for a new portrait, we'll create photographs that feel personal, thoughtful, and unmistakably yours.

What to Expect

Most people tell me they're a little nervous before a portrait session.

That's completely normal.

You don't need to know how to pose or what to do in front of the camera. Every session begins with a conversation, and I'll guide you through everything from wardrobe and location to posing and movement.

Some of my favorite photographs happen in the moments between poses, when people relax and simply become themselves.

The goal is to create photographs that feel natural, authentic, and true to you.

Thoughtful Retouching

Retouching is the final step in the process.

My approach is simple: you should still look like yourself. I'll refine light, color, and detail while preserving the qualities that make you recognizable.

The best retouching is invisible. People don't notice the editing—they notice the person.

Choosing the Right Location

Where we photograph is just as important as what we photograph.

A studio offers complete control over light and background, creating clean, timeless portraits that keep the focus on you.

On-location sessions add context and personality. Whether it's your office, studio, a favorite neighborhood, or another meaningful setting, the environment becomes part of the photograph.

Los Angeles offers an incredible variety of locations, from modern architecture and creative workspaces to parks, neighborhoods, and the coast. Together, we'll choose a setting that reflects your personality, your work, and the overall feel you're looking to create.

Editorial Experience

My approach to portrait photography has been shaped by years of editorial assignments.

Throughout my career, I've photographed for publications including The New York Times Magazine, Time, Rolling Stone, Wired, and New York Magazine. Those assignments taught me to approach every portrait with intention, understanding who I'm photographing, what the images need to communicate, and how every creative decision supports that goal.

Whether I'm photographing for a publication, a business, or an individual, my approach remains the same: to create thoughtful, authentic photographs that reflect the person in front of the camera.

A Documentary Perspective

My background in documentary and editorial photography has shaped the way I see people.

I'm drawn to the moments that feel genuine—a quiet expression, an unexpected laugh, or the pause between poses when someone simply relaxes. Those are often the photographs that reveal the most.

Every session begins with understanding. Understanding who you are, the work you've built, and what you want your photographs to communicate.

That's how we create portraits that feel authentic and continue to represent you long after the session is over.

A Portrait That Feels Like You

Your portrait is often the first introduction people have to you.

Long before a conversation begins, someone has already seen your photograph. That's why it should feel authentic and reflect who you are.

My goal is to create portraits you'll return to again and again—photographs that continue to feel honest, thoughtful, and true, no matter where they appear.

Together, we'll create images that reflect who you are and the story you want to share.

Questions

How do I know if I need a studio session or an on-location shoot?
That depends on your goals and the feel you're looking for. We'll decide together during our planning conversation.

I've never been photographed professionally. Is that okay?
Absolutely. I'll guide you through the entire session, so you never have to worry about posing or knowing what to do.

How long will it take to receive my photographs?
Delivery times vary depending on the project, and I'll go over the timeline before your session.

Do you photograph commissioned assignments as well as individual portraits?
Yes. I photograph both commissioned editorial and commercial assignments, as well as portraits for individuals, businesses, and publications.

How much does a portrait session cost?
Every project is a little different. Pricing depends on the scope of the session, and I'm happy to provide a custom quote. Email me
