Motherhood Photography in Los Angeles

Thoughtful portraits that celebrate the everyday moments, the quiet connections, and the story of your family.

Why Connection Matters More Than the Perfect Pose

Some of my favorite family photographs aren't the ones where everyone is looking at the camera.

They're the moments in between, when no one is thinking about being photographed. The conversations, the quiet moments, the familiar routines, and the way your family naturally moves through the day together.

Those are the moments that tell the real story.

As a stepmother and a photographer, I know how often I'm the one behind the camera. I have countless photographs of the people I love, but far fewer that include me with them. It's a reminder that the person documenting family life is so often missing from the story.

That's one of the reasons family photography is so meaningful to me.

I'm not interested in creating perfectly posed portraits that could belong to anyone. I want to create photographs that reflect your relationships and the life you've built together.

The everyday moments may not seem remarkable while you're living them, but with time, they're often the ones that matter most.

My goal is to create photographs that bring you back to how this chapter of your life felt, not just how it looked.

Motherhood photography is about more than documenting milestones. It's about preserving the everyday moments that tell the story of your family.

My approach is never about creating the perfect picture. It's about making photographs that feel honest, connected, and true to this chapter of your life.

Whether we're photographing at home or somewhere meaningful to you in Los Angeles, my goal is to create images that reflect your relationships, your family, and the life you're building together.

Years from now, I hope these photographs do more than remind you of what this time looked like. I hope they bring you back to how it felt.

What Photography Sessions Means to Me

When people hear the words lifestyle photography, they often imagine photographs that are completely candid or unplanned.

That's not how I work.

Every session begins with intention. Before we photograph, we'll talk about your family, your home, and what this season of life feels like. Together, we'll choose a location, think about the light, and create a plan that allows the session to unfold naturally.

Once we begin, my role shifts.

Rather than asking everyone to look at the camera and smile, I'll gently guide you into moments that feel real. I'll encourage you to interact with your children, to slow down, to be together, and then I'll photograph what naturally unfolds.

Some images may be quiet. Others may be playful or beautifully chaotic. That's part of family life, and I never want to force it into something it isn't.

The goal isn't to create perfectly posed portraits. It's to create photographs that feel honest—images that reflect your relationships, your family, and the way you are together.

There's a great deal of thought behind every session, but I hope it never feels that way. My goal is for the experience to feel relaxed, comfortable, and unhurried, leaving room for the in-between moments that often become the most meaningful photographs.

What Makes Los Angeles the Perfect City...

Los Angeles offers a visual environment that naturally supports lifestyle photography.

The light is softer. The golden hour is longer. The variety of settings allows your story to feel layered and specific.

Natural Settings That Become Part of Your Story

You live in a city filled with texture coastlines, hills, architecture, open light and shaded streets.

These elements are not just backgrounds. They become part of your visual story.

Whether it is:

  • Window light in your home

  • Late afternoon light outdoors

  • Quiet spaces in your neighborhood

Your photos reflect your real environment, not a generic location.

The Culture of Los Angeles Demands Something Better

Los Angeles is a visually aware city. People notice imagery. They understand composition, tone and quality.

Because of this, traditional portraits often feel outdated.

You are not looking for something standard. You are looking for something that feels like your life is refined but real.

Lifestyle photography meets that expectation by combining authenticity with editorial quality.

Every Chapter Has a Story

One of the things I love most about photographing families is that every stage brings something entirely its own.

Newborns

The earliest days are often quieter than people expect.

There's a tenderness to this time—a new rhythm, a slower pace, and the simple act of getting to know one another. Rather than focusing on elaborate poses or props, I'm interested in the connection between you and your baby, and the small moments that quickly become memories.

The Toddler Years

Toddlers have their own agenda, and I think that's part of the beauty.

They explore, wander, laugh, change directions without warning, and rarely stay still for long. I don't expect them to. Instead of trying to control every moment, I create space for their personalities to unfold naturally. Those are often the photographs families love most.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy is its own chapter—a time of anticipation, change, and possibility.

Whether we photograph at home or somewhere meaningful to you, my goal is to create images that feel honest and true to this experience. Simple, thoughtful photographs that reflect this moment in your life before everything changes again.

As Your Family Grows

As children get older, family photographs often become less frequent.

Life gets busier. School, sports, and everyday routines begin to fill the calendar. But these years are every bit as meaningful.

The conversations, the rituals, the way your family moves through the world together—they continue to evolve. Those relationships deserve to be photographed, too.

No matter where your family is in its story, my hope is to create photographs that feel authentic today and become even more meaningful with time.

Inside a Session: What You Can Actually Expect

What to Expect During Your Session

Every family is different, and that's where we begin.

Before we ever make a photograph, we'll talk about your family, your children, and what this season of life feels like. Whether we're photographing in your home or outdoors somewhere meaningful, we'll create a plan that feels natural and true to you.

When the session begins, there's no expectation that anyone will perform for the camera.

I'll offer gentle direction when it's helpful, but I'm just as interested in the moments that happen in between. The conversations, the movement, the unexpected laughter, and the quiet pauses are often where the most meaningful photographs are made.

Children don't need to sit still, and you don't need to worry about having everything perfectly under control. My job is to create a space where everyone can relax and simply be together.

As we move through the session, I'm paying attention to the details you don't have to think about—the changing light, the composition, the way people naturally interact, and the moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed.

The photographs may feel effortless, but they're never accidental. Every image is created with intention, while leaving room for the unexpected moments that make your family uniquely yours.

Motherhood Is Only Part of Your Story

Many of the women I photograph are balancing motherhood with careers, creative work, and businesses they've spent years building.

Those parts of your life aren't separate. They shape one another.

Whether you're an entrepreneur, an artist, a founder, or simply someone who wants to be seen as your whole self, your photographs can reflect more than one part of your story.

Sometimes that means creating images with your children. Sometimes it means making time for portraits that are just about you.

Both matter.

My goal is to create photographs that feel authentic to where you are in your life today, honoring your family while also celebrating the person you are beyond motherhood.

What Happens After the Session: The Editing Process

High End Retouching That Respects Reality

Editing should enhance, not transform.

Your images remain true to what actually happened.

Skin tones are natural. Light is refined. Colors are consistent.

Nothing feels artificial.

The goal is simple: your life, at its best, without losing its honesty.

Being Part of the Story

Over time, it's often the little details we forget.

The everyday routines. The conversations. The way your child reached for your hand or curled up beside you on the couch.

But photographs have a way of bringing those moments back.

They remind us not only of what life looked like, but of how it felt to be together.

That's what I hope to create for every family I photograph. Not perfect pictures, but meaningful ones. Images that become part of your family's story and grow more valuable with time.

Why These Photographs Matter

Life has a way of moving quietly.

The routines that feel so ordinary today eventually become the moments we miss the most. The way your family gathers around the kitchen table, the bedtime rituals, the conversations in the car, the laughter that fills your home.

At the time, they often don't feel remarkable. They're simply part of everyday life.

Photography gives us the chance to hold onto those moments.

Not because life needs to be perfect, but because it's always changing. What feels familiar today will eventually become part of your family's history.

That's why I believe in making photographs that feel honest and connected. Years from now, I hope they bring you back to this chapter of your life and remind you not only of what it looked like, but of how it felt.

Why I Photograph Families

Over the years, I've come to believe that the photographs we treasure most aren't always the ones we expected to love.

They're often the quiet ones.

The images that remind us of how it felt to be together at a particular moment in our lives.

That's what I hope to create every time I photograph a family—not perfect pictures, but photographs that become part of your family's history.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a lifestyle motherhood session a good fit if I have a newborn or very young children?

Absolutely. Those early days have a rhythm all their own, and they often pass in a blur. My goal isn't to create perfectly posed photographs, but to document the connection between you and your baby in a way that feels natural and true to this time in your life.

Can we photograph in our home?

Yes, and I often encourage it. Home is where your family's story unfolds. The nursery, the kitchen, the living room where everyone gathers—those places become part of the photographs and often hold even more meaning as the years go by. If you'd prefer to be outdoors, I'm happy to help choose a location that feels right for your family.

How many photographs will we receive?

Every session is a little different, but most families receive a thoughtfully edited gallery of approximately 50–80 images. Rather than focusing on a specific number, I focus on creating a collection that tells the story of your family and this chapter of your lives.

How far in advance should we book?

If you have a particular season or timeframe in mind, I recommend reaching out six to eight weeks in advance. That said, if you're hoping to schedule something sooner, it's always worth asking. If I have availability, I'd love to make it work.

What if my children aren't interested in having their picture taken?

That's completely normal, and honestly, I expect it.

I don't expect children to sit still or smile on command. The sessions are relaxed, with plenty of room to explore, play, and simply be themselves. Some of my favorite photographs happen when children forget there's a camera and are simply interacting with the people they love.
